Mixed Doubles Challenge Teams Finalized

Macau’s International Mixed Doubles Jockeys Challenge set down for Saturday, 21 Jan 2017, promises to be a fantastic day. The first stage of the competition was set in motion with the announcement of the six Doubles Teams.

Riding for the Red Team is Korea’s top lady rider Kim Hye Sun who has drawn for her team mate three times Singapore Champion Manoel Nunes, who rides for the Lion City.

Team number two is the Yellow Team and see’s the young Japanese girl Nanako Fujita joining forces with the flamboyant Frenchman Olivier Doleuze who will represent Hong Kong.

Talented New York based rider Jacqueline Davis will represent the USA in Team Three the Blue Team, and will link up with New Zealand’s Andrew Calder who rides for his home country.

The Black and White Checks of Team Four will be sported by two times Champion Victorian Apprentice Katelyn Mallyon who carries the flag for Australia. Katelyn will be joined by Korea’s Champion jockey Moon Se Young.

Representing Ireland will be Emily Finnegan who will don the Purple of Team Five. Finnegan will have the benefit of some local knowledge when she joins forces with four times Champion Macau jockey Luis Corrales who is riding out for Macau.

The much traveled Jeane Alves de Lemos from Brazil will link up with Japanese racing legend Yutaka Take, to make up Team Six the Orange Team as they ride for their countries.

The six teams will do battle over a series of three races on the turf, with each rider wearing the colored caps of their team. The doubles partners accumulating the highest point score will be crowned the winners in a presentation ceremony after.

Wednesday morning will see the announcement of the horses drawn for each of the teams, and the riders will have a chance to try out their mounts at trackwork from Thursday morning.

A lavish welcome dinner is set down for Thursday night, followed by a Breakfast With The Stars morning on Friday at the MJC Clubhouse.

The International Mixed Doubles Challenge is a unique promotion that is the first of its kind to be staged, and is sure to make for a fabulous days racing.
