Race Report

RACE-4 THE CISTUS RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1050 METRES (10)

1 Bowl Lucky (M Cangas) –Poor performance; Rider reported that his mount failed to respond when placed under pressure; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
2 Woodney (R Stewart) –Shifted in on jumping away and made contact with 12 Only Pearl which was taken in onto 5 Excellent Brothers.
3 Diamond Rocket (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
5 Excellent Brothers (D Chong) - Shortly after the start became unbalanced when placed in restricted room between 8 Holy Ascension and 12 Only Pearl resulting in all those runners becoming unbalanced.
6 Great Idea (W T Pao) –When the gates were released shifted in and bumped 9 Krun.
8 Holy Ascension (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Jumped away very awkwardly, shifted in and brushed 1 Bowl Lucky unbalancing that gelding;
10 Cali Fortune (B Yamzon) - Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
12 Only Pearl (C Perkins) – Trainer K H Leong informed the Stewards that the gelding will ridden more quietly tonight; Settled back in the field; After passing the 900 metres had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 2 Woodney which shifted in when laying in.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Correct weight was delayed when Jockey W Smith the rider of 11 Everything Good (2nd placed horse) after reviewing the official patrol film lodged an objection against 4 King Achilles (W L Ho) being declared the winner alleging interference inside the final 200 metres. After considering the evidence and viewing the films, it was established that after passing the 200 metres 4 King Achilles shifted in slightly resulting in 11 Everything Good having to steady and shift out to avoid that gelding’s heels. However in the opinion of the Stewards the interference suffered by 11 Everything Good did not warrant a reversal of the placings bearing in mind the beaten margin of a neck between the two runners. The objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared.
At a subsequent inquiry Jockey W L Ho the rider of 4 King Achilles was reprimanded and notified that he must show greater care when in similar circumstances in future.

VETERINARY:
1 Bowl Lucky (M Cangas) –A post race veterinary examination of 1 Bowl Lucky which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality
