Race Report

RACE-3 THE PLUM BLOSSOM RATING 50-30 (CLASS 4&5) 1100 METRES (15)

1 China Cheers (W L Ho) – For some distance approaching the 400 metres was held up when unable to obtain clear running; Disappointing performance; Rider reported that the horse began only fairly and did not travel particularly well throughout the run. He added that on return to scales he advised the trainer to consider removing the gelding’s blinkers at its next run. A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
3 Maggie's Pride (R Curatolo) –Dwelt when the gates were released and lost considerable ground; Trainer K C Tse was informed that 3 Maggie's Pride will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial; Disappointing performance; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
8 Borrett Boy (R Stewart) –Raced keenly in the early and middle stages
9 Safe Gold Baby (K H Yu) –Near the 700 metres shifted out when racing keenly and had to be steadied off the heels of 2 Happy Alloy which shifted in at that stage.
11 Son Of Unicorn (A Calder) –Which was restless in the barriers, reared when the gates were released losing significant ground; Trainer J M Moore was informed that 11 Son Of Unicorn will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
Near the 350 metres was inconvenienced by 1 China Cheers (H Lam) which shifted out slightly to obtain a clear run to the outside of 7 Auspicious Dragon; Jockey H Lam advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in the future. Disappointing performance; Rider reported his mount raced greenly. A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.

6 Golden Kalbar (W Smith) –Suffered a bleeding attack.
1 China Cheers (W L Ho) –A post race veterinary examination of 1 China Cheers which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Maggie's Pride (R Curatolo) – A post race veterinary examination of Maggie's Pride which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Son Of Unicorn (A Calder) – A post race veterinary examination of 11 Son Of Unicorn which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
