Race Report

RACE-2 MAGIC MILLIONS INSURANCE BROKERS RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1350 METRES (20)

1 Crowning Mission (W T Pao) –In the 600 metres had to be steadied when the pace steadied.

2 Gold Selection (C F Chan) –From the 500 metres until the 400 metres was held up when unable to obtain clear run.

5 Ratnaraj (J Cordero) –When questioned as to why the gelding led today, Trainer S H Cheong explained that he had instructed the rider to take an advantage of his good barrier and also, that he had issued similar instructions in the past, however on those occasion the horse did not have the necessary speed to take a forward position. Stewards, whilst acknowledging that the trainer had issued similar instructions in the past, nevertheless advised Mr. Cheong when there would be a significant change to the tactics adopted upon his runners, he would be expected to notify the Stewards in the first instance.

6 The Dragon (C F Wong) –Bounded in the air when the gates were released. For some distance rounding the turn was held up. Disappointing. A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards and failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Rider reported that the horse resented the kick back.

8 Yummy Yummy (K H Yu) –Shifted in abruptly before straightened by its rider.

9 Macau Spring (W L Ho) –Fractious whilst saddling, sustaining an injury to its right fore knee and was withdrawn on veterinary ground at 8:30PM. Trainer K H Leong was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.

10 Winner Treasure (D Chong) –On jumping away got its head up, thereafter raced ungenerously and was then hampered by 8 Yummy Yummy which shifted in abruptly.

11 Far Reaching (L Salles)-Bounded in the air when the gates were released and lost ground.

12 Sandy Beach (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Slow to muster speed. Raced wide without cover throughout. Apprentice K Y Wong explained that he did not ride his mount to the winning post as he thought it was a beaten horse in the straight. He was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts at least hands and heels to the winning post whenever possible.
