Race Report

RACE-6 THE RIPON RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1050 METRES (84)

2 Happy Alloy (H Lam) –Raced wide without cover.
3 Mission Gdragon (C Perkins) –Had to be steadied and became unbalanced after passing the 600 metres to avoid the heels of 6 Hanigan.
6 Hanigan (D Chong) –Near the 900 metres became unbalanced when racing in restricted room between 8 Victory Achiever and 10 Cool Brother. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack.
12 Qiao Tou Win (J Cordero) –Was slightly slow to begin.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
“Correct Weight” was delayed to allow the Stewards to view the official control videos to establish whether there were sufficient grounds to lodge an objection on behalf of the connections of 5 Great Party (W L Ho) the 4th placegetter against 9 Happiness In Peace (L Corrales) being declared 2nd placegetter. It was established that approaching the 200 netres 9 Happiness In Peace shifted out and brushed 5 Great Party (W L Ho) and that inside the 100 metres both those runners raced tight with their riders whips becoming entangled and 5 Great Party being struck over the head by the whip of Jockey L Corrales the rider of 9 Happiness In Peace. After considering the beaten margin of a neck by a neck and the proximity of the winning post, the Stewards did not proceed with the objection and correct weight was declared.

Jockey M Cangas the rider of 7 Power Sequalo pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that after passing the 600 metres, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 6 Hanigan (D Chong) which had to be checked. Jockey M Cangas’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings covering the meetings of 4th and 11th December 2015. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Jockey M Cangas’ good record, his guilty plea and the degree of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
