Race Report

RACE-6 THE MALTON RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1050 METRES (114)

1 Red Dragon (K K Lai) – When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of the gelding, stable representative Assistant Trainer J McCabe stated that the gelding had been eating and working well in the lead up to tonight’s event and that in the past it had suffered from some leg issues which appear to have been resolved.
3 Happy Alloy (Apprentice Y M Choi) – Passing the 200 metres had to be steadied when taken in off its course by 11 Sharon Star which shifted in under pressure. Jockey C F Wong the rider of 11 Sharon Star was reprimanded and notified that he must exercise far more care when shifting ground in future. Rider reported that he felt that something was amiss with the gelding. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer K C Chong was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
5 Diamond Rocket (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Was slow to begin.
8 Mission Well (J Cordero) –Was marginally slow to begin. Broke down in the left front fetlock near the 700 metres and was subsequently euthanased.
9 Voguish (C F Chan) –Struck the outside gate on jumping away and lost ground. Tailed the field throughout the event and was uncompetitive. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that the gelding which had been beaten in excess of thirty seven and a half lengths must compete in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards at which time it must compete competitively.
10 Power Sequalo (M Cangas) –Raced wide without cover. Near the 50 metres had to be steadied when tightened between 6 Happy Cash which initially shifted out marginally and 1 Red Dragon which shifted in slightly.
12 Honest Boy (H Lam) –Jumped away awkwardly, got its head in the air and lost ground.
