Race Report

RACE-2 THE SHEFFIELD RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1050 METRES (116)

1 Vancouver Jaguar (W T Pao) –Laid in under pressure in the straight.
2 Dengcheng One (K K Lai) – On straightening shifted out and brushed 7 Bunce. During the running of the race cast its right front plate.
3 I'm Sincere (C Perkins) – Trainer C Marshall was issued with a was severe reprimand for failing to collect the saddle of his runner in a timely manner for this event.
4. Ideal Horse (L Corrales) – Jockey L Corrales was questioned regarding leading tonight, he explained that at the gelding’s previous start, he had been instructed to be positive on that occasion, however it lacked the necessary speed and settled further back in the field. He added that with the application of blinkers tonight, it showed a better turn of foot and was able to take up the forward position.
5 Rosary (J Cordero) –Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
6 Wan Shi Sheng Yi (M Cangas) –It was established that the gelding had to been lead to the start by its strapper. Trainer K M Chin was advised that all his runners must proceed to the barriers without assistance or only that of the Clerk of the Course. He was further advised that future offences of this nature would lead to a penalty.
8 Jade Elite (A Calder) –Raced very wide without cover. Laid in in the back straight.
9 Alway Better (C F Chan) –Shortly after straightening was hampered and taken in off its course by 1 Vancouver Jaguar. When questioned regarding his use of the whip in the straight, Jockey C F Chan explained that passing the 200 metres, when he was attempting to pull his whip from his left to his right hand it became entangled in his mount’s mane for a number of strides before he regained use of it.
10 Beautiful Illusion (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Shifted out on jumping away and bumped 8 Jade Elite and as a result lost some ground.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Near the 500 metres 3 I'm Sincere (C Perkins) was tightened for room and had to be checked between 8 Jade Elite (A Calder) which shifted in slightly and 1 Vancouver Jaguar (W T Pao) which shifted out slightly. Under the the circumstances, the Stewards took no direct action however advised riders A Calder and W T Pao to exercise the utmost care at all times
