Race Report

RACE-2 THE PHILADELPHIA RATING 45-0 (CLASS 4,5&6) 1600 METRES (146)

4 Luen Yat Command (W L Ho) – Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that he got further back than anticipated due to the early slow pace and being caught behind other runners. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. A post race swab sample was taken for analysis.
5 Rosary (J Cordero) –Was slow to begin (1L). Raced wide without cover and was eased down in the straight. J Cordero explained that his mount did not respond to his riding from the 600 metres and could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer C F Chan was informed that the horse will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier before being permitted to race again.
6 Red King (L Salles) –Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Was eased out of the race at the top of the straight after going amiss in the right foreleg. Received treatment on course by the Veterinary Surgeon before being transported to its stable for further assessment.
7 Son Of Unicorn (O Doleuze) –Shortly after the start had to be steadied off the heels of 9 Best Double which shifted out. When questioned as to why he led tonight on the horse normally settles in a mid to rear position, O Doleuze explained that after beginning well 7 Son Of Unicorn locked its jaw and commenced to race very fiercely and for this reason he allowed it to stride forward.
9 Best Double (K W Leong) – Near the 700 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed to the inside of 8 Modena Success. Rider K W Leong reported that his mount was very green and hung out throughout the entire event.
11 Tiger Exceed (W H Lao) –Near the 900 metres had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of 9 Best Double which shifted in before being straightened by its rider. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance Trainer C F Chan explained that the gelding appreciated the step up in distance to the 1600 metres of tonight’s event and further that it had had some leg problems which had responded to treatment.
12 Cargo Money (D Chong) - Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground (1L).
