Race Report

RACE-6 THE DETROIT RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1350 METRES (150)

2 Winner Best (L Corrales) –Was slow to begin. Got its head up when racing ungenerously rounding the turn near the 1200 metres. Approaching the 100 metres shifted out slightly and then had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 3 Chairman's Vote which shifted in.
3 Chairman's Vote (W L Ho) –Raced keenly in the back straight.
5 I Told You So (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Rider reported that his mount hung out in the straight.
6 Tuhao Power (W H Lao) –Over raced during the early and middle stages. Disappointing. Rider W H Lao explained that the gelding was having its first start over this distance, over raced badly and refused to settle and for this reason was unable to finish off the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 The Mighty (Apprentice Y M Choi) – On jumping away became unbalanced after being brushed by 12 Power Sequalo which shifted in. For some distance approaching and passing the 400 metres was held up when unable to improve its position. When questioned as to why 9 The Mighty settled further back than normal, Apprentice Y M Choi explained that following the incident at the start and due to the pace, he got further back than anticipated tonight.
12 Power Sequalo (M Cangas) – Raced three wide without cover.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Prior to Correct Weight, Jockey W L Ho the rider of 3 Chairman's Vote viewed the Stewards patrol film before deciding not to lodge an objection against 2 Winner Best (L Corrales) being declared the winner. It was established that near the winning post 3 Chairman's Vote shifted in and bumped 2 Winner Best. The Stewards were satisfied that there were no grounds for an objection and Correct Weight was declared.
