Race Report

RACE-2 THE LONGEVITY RATING 55-0 (CLASS 4,5&6) 1200 METRES (152)

1 Cheerful Fish (W L Ho) –Lay out rounding the home turn and in the straight which allowed the eventual winner 4 Dengcheng One a run to its inside.
2 River Ground (K W Leong) - Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that it was his mount’s first start on the turf today and that it had been caught wide throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Dengcheng One (L Salles) –Over raced in the early and middle stages. Cast its right hind plate during the running of the race.
5 Vowed To Run (H Lam) –Checked when tightened for room at the start.
7 River Freedom (J Cordero) –Checked when tightened for room at the start. The Stewards questioned Jockey R Cordero regarding the tactics he adopted on the gelding particularly rounding the home turn. He explained that after receiving interference at the start of the event, he pushed his mount along in the back straight and it then commenced to hang out which placed him wide rounding the home turn. He then commenced to ride his mount along in the straight where it made up reasonable ground. He highlighted the fact that 7 River Freedom has a tendency to hang out during trackwork and usually carries blinkers at trackwork for this reason. The Stewards notified Jockey J Cordero that bearing in mind his explanation that his mount was hanging out and was somewhat difficult to ride, they would expect to see him in future making a genuine attempt to place his mounts under pressure at a critical stage of the race.
8 Machmaster (C F Chan) –Was slow to begin.
9 Lucky And Fortune (C F Wong) –Lay out for the majority of the event.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
On jumping away 7 River Freedom (J Cordero) and 5 Vowed To Run (H Lam) had to be checked when tightened for room between 11 Cheerful Companion (W T Pao) which shifted in and 1 Cheerful Fish (W L Ho) which shifted out and away from 9 Lucky And Fortune (C F Wong), which in turn shifted out and away from 4 Dengcheng One which shifted out abruptly.
