Race Report

RACE-4 SPRING TROPHY (GROUP 2) OPEN (NO FREELANCE/APPRENTICE JOCKEYS ALLOWANCE) 1500 METRES (154)

3 Pak Lok Angel (W H Lao) –Approaching and passing the 800 metres had a tendency to over race and for this reason at the 800 metres was shifted wider on the track to be afforded clear running. Jockey W H Lao was reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts at least hands and heels to the winning post.
5 Best Of Luck (A Calder) – For some distance approaching and passing the 400 metres was held up when unable to improve its position.
6 Sandtop (W L Ho) –Near the 1300 metres became unbalanced when placed in restricted room. After passing the 500 metres had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of 9 Valiant Soldier which shifted in slightly when being restrained off heels.
7 Sheng Li Win (C Perkins) –Raced wide without cover.
9 Valiant Soldier (C F Wong) –Near the 500 metres had to be steadied off the heels of 11 Oh So Easy which was weakening.
10 Unbreakable (B Yamzon) –Trainer J M Moore advised Stewards that from the wide alley he would be instructing his rider to obtain a position off the speed and closer to the rail. Settled just off midfield with cover. Approaching and passing the 400 metres was held up.
11 Oh So Easy (H Lam) –Disappointing performance. Rider reported that the gelding is better suited to a heavy track. He added that he was further back today than anticipated and his mount did not respond to his riding from the 600 metres mark. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Victory Achiever (J Cordero) –Was slow to begin. Approaching the 400 metres had to be steadied when close to heels and was then held up until the entrance into the straight.
