Race Report

RACE-1 THE JINAN RATING 30-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1350 METRES (176)

1 Best Double (A Calder) –Shifted in on jumping away and was then bumped by 12 Kao's Star which shifted out. Shortly after this, raced in restricted room between that gelding and 10 Sharp Spear for a short distance. From the 500 metres until approaching the 400 metres was held up behind 11 Glory Spirit which was weakening, then commenced to hang out proving difficult to ride out.
2 Delight Consul (C F Wong) - For some distance near the 500 metres was held up when unable to improve its position.
3 Glory Moment (C Perkins) –Shortly after the start was momentarily unbalanced when tightened for room between 10 Sharp Spear and 6 Tornado Force.
5 Big Success (K W Leong) –Was marginally slow to begin. Poor performance. Rider explained that the gelding did not travel at any time and did not respond to his riding. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that he will be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 5th March 2016. In addition, in view that the gelding had been beaten in excess of 32 lengths, it will not be permitted to race for 11 day and until it has performed competitively to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial.
6 Tornado Force (D Chong) –On jumping away was taken in by 9 Active Power making contact with 3 Glory Moment. Raced wide before obtaining cover near the 700 metres.
8 Truly Heart (H Lam) –Raced three wide without cover,
9 Active Power (W T Pao) – Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that the horse traveled well until the 400 metres and did not respond to urgings from that point on.
11 Glory Spirit (A Aucharuz) –Broke down in the left foreleg at the 200 metres dislodging its rider and was subsequently humanely euthanased. Jockey A Aucharuz was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfill the remainder of his riding engagements tonight.
