Race Report

RACE-3 THE OKINAWAJIMA RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1350 METRES (233)

1 Nam Kee's Treasure (W T Pao) –Shifted in on jumping away and bumped 4 Gold And Silver. Raced wide before obtaining a position closer to the rails near the 500 metres.
2 Shame On You (W Smith) –Approaching the 350 metres had to be steadied when inconvenienced by 9 I'm Sincere which continued to shift out before being straightened by its rider. Jockey C Perkins the rider of 9 I'm Sincere was reprimanded and was notified that he must have far more control over his mounts when using the whip at all times. Performed below market expectations after being well supported in the betting tonight. Jockey W Smith explained that his mount travelled well until the 400 metres, however was a beaten horse from that point. He said that 2 Shame On You blew hard after the event and may not have been suited by the quick tempo.
5 Lucky And Powerful (W L Ho) –Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
8 Win Perfectly (K K Lai) –At the request of its trainer underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and was passed fit to run. Was slow to muster speed and failed to make contact with the field throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality and a post race swab was taken for analysis. Jockey K K Lai stated that the horse never at any stage traveled on the bit and was at a loss to explain the performance tonight. Trainer J M Moore was informed that he would be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination. In addition, the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to racing again.
9 I'm Sincere (C Perkins) –Was slightly slow to begin and was then hampered when tightened for room between 6 Gem Lucky Star and 7 Hostwin Treasure and as a result lost ground.
11 Rosary (C F Wong) –Was marginally slow to begin and was then taken in off its course by 3 Tony Itoldyouso which shifted in after being bumped by 12 All Thrills which also shifted in after jumping away. Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the race. After passing the 400 metres as steadied to avoid the heels of 9 I'm Sincere which shifted out abruptly after being struck with the whip.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Prior to “Correct Weight”, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards to review the video patrol to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge an objection on behalf of the connections of the 4th placed getter 4 Gold And Silver (J Cordero) against 12 All Thrills (A Aucharuz) being declared 3rd placed getter. It was established that near the 50 metres 12 All Thrills shifted in and brushed 4 Gold And Silver taking that gelding off its course before being straightened. Bearing in mind the manner in which both horses finished off this event, the margin of one and three quarter lengths and the proximity of the winning post, the Stewards were not satisfied that there was sufficient grounds for an objection and “Correct Weight” was declared.
