Race Report

RACE-4 THE COLUMBUS RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1050 METRES (252)

2 Court Achiever (Apprentice K Y Wong) - A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was severely lame in the right foreleg. Trainer K M Chin was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary clearance is produced.
3 Sharon Star (B Yamzon) – Raced wide throughout the event.
4 Diamond Rocket (L Corrales) –Was marginally slow to begin and then had to be steadied when tightened for room between 9 Brilliant Cash and 12 Man From The Bay which shifted out.
7 Captain Genuki (J Cordero) –Slightly slow to begin.
8 Chok King (A Calder) – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Approaching the 600 metres had to restrained off heels when the pace steadied.
10 Rio Party (W T Pao) – Approaching the 600 metres had to restrained off heels when the pace steadied. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Alway Better (K K Lai) –Was marginally slow to begin.
12 Man From The Bay (A Aucharuz) –Laid in throughout the race and in the straight shifted in on a number of occsions resulting in its rider having difficulty riding his mount out in his normal manner.
13 Modena Favorite (W Smith) –Raced wide for the majority of the event.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Near the 600 metres 12 Man From The Bay (A Aucharuz) and 9 Brilliant Cash (L Salles) were steadied when tightened for room by 2 Court Achiever (Apprentice K Y Wong) which shifted in. Apprentice K Y Wong the rider of 2 Court Achiever was severely reprimanded and notified that he must not have runners unnecessarily tight and that he must make a far greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting when in similar circumstances in future.
