Race Report

RACE-3 THE ACTIVE BO BO RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1500 METRES (279)
This race was reschedule to start at 4:15pm.

1 Let Me Run (H Lam) –From the 600 metres until approaching the 400 metres was held up when unable to improve its position. Approaching the 200 metres was brushed by 9 Holy Ascension which shifted out slightly.
2 Wyoming (A Calder) -Jockey A Calder the rider of the 5th place getter was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts fully to the line. The Stewards did not believe his actions had a bearing on the result of the race.
3 Arabian Hawk (R Curatolo) –Was marginally slow to begin and was then inconvenienced by 5 Dengcheng One which shifted out. Raced three wide without cover.
4 Classical Music (B Yamzon) –Raced four wide without cover until the 600 metres.
5 Dengcheng One (L Corrales) – Cast its right front plate during the run. Rider reported that after his mount had cast its right fore plate near the 1400 metres, the gelding never travelled comfortably in the lead. He added in the home straight 5 Dengcheng One failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Horse Of The Day (W Smith) – Trainer K C Tse was questioned in regards to the tactics adopted on the gelding today which settled in a mid field position which is in contrast to its normal racing pattern where it races up on the pace. Mr. Tse explained that he had instructed the rider to attempt to settle the gelding three to four lengths behind the leader because it has a habit of over racing and these instructions are the same as have been issued to riders at all recent starts. He further explained that the blinkers were removed from 6 Horse Of The Day at its last start on the 13th of May 2016 in an attempt to settle the gelding, however that day it began extremely well and was left in a forward position before compounding and only beating two runners home. He highlighted that the jockey on that day had reported that 6 Horse Of The Day had settled well with the removal of the blinkers. In all the circumstances the Stewards severely reprimanded Trainer K C Tse for failing to notify the change of tactic and reminded him that although the instructions issued had been similar as in recent runs, it was his obligation to report to Stewards the fact that he would be expecting his horse to settle in a significantly different position today than it had in its runs to date. Rider W Smith confirmed the instructions and stated that he restrained his mount after jumping away in order to obtain cover as per the instructions. He said his mount travelled well through the early and middle stages, however lost its action at the 800 metres when placed under pressure and did not finish off the event. In his opinion 6 Horse Of The Day did not handle the rain affected track conditions. Jockey W Smith was reminded of his obligations to report a change of tactic to the Stewards when he has the opportunity.
7 Peace Get Fortune (D Chong) –On jumping away was hampered when tightened for room between 2 Wyoming and 8 Wonder Holy which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in.
8 Wonder Holy (L Salles) – Approaching the 1100 metres when over racing had to be steadied and got its head up when racing tight to the inside of 5 Dengcheng One. Was held up for some distance after passing the 400 metres until the entrance of the straight.
