Race Report

RACE-2 University of Macau Alumni Association Cup RATING 70+ (CLASS 1&2) 1350 METRES (297)

1 Sino Brilhante (K K Lai) –Prior to the event, Trainer J W Moore informed the Stewards that due to the big weight and wide alley, he would instruct the rider to attempt to sit just behind the pace today, as he believed that would assist the horse in finishing off the event. Over raced in the middle stages, settled in a handy position and was trapped wide throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination of 1 Sino Brilhante which was eased out of the race at the top of the straight by its rider revealed that the gelding was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer J W Moore was informed that 1 Sino Brilhante will not be permitted to race for 11 days until a veterinary clearance is produced and the gelding has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
4 River Bobo (L Corrales) –Jumped away awkwardly.
6 Central Station (L Salles) –Rider was unable to offer any tangible explanation, however expressed his disappointment with the gelding’s performance today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 The Whirlwind (W H Lao) –Jumped away awkwardly.
9 Vigor Partner (A Calder) –At the turn near the 1100 metres had to be steadied when tightened between 3 Pak Lok Angel and 6 Central Station which was taken in by 2 Healthy Life which shifted in. Jockey W L Ho the rider of 2 Healthy Life was informed that he must exercise far more care when shifting ground in future.
11 My Club (M Cangas) –Rider explained that in his opinion the gelding would be better suited to races of a lower class. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
13 King Achilles (Y M Choi) –Stood flat footed when the gates were released and lost ground.
