Race Report

RACE-2 THE KAM TIN (SAND) RATING 45-0 (CLASS 4&5) 1600 METRES (303)

1 Florence Baby (B Yamzon) –Performed below market expectations. Rider reported his mount travelled well until the 400 metres, however was one paced in the run to the finish line. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Rosary Diamond (L Salles) –Approaching the 600 metres had to be steadied off the heels of 10 Golden Commandment when the pace slackened.
3 Lucky And Fortune (L Corrales) –Jumped away awkwardly and struck the outside gate and then made contact with 2 Rosary Diamond.
9 Modena Creation (C Perkins) –Was slow to muster speed. Got its head up at the 1300 metres when racing ungenerously.
10 Golden Commandment (W H Lao)–The race was slightly delayed as the bridle of 10 Golden Commandment had to be readjusted. Jumped away very awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and lost ground. Raced very wide through the middle stages before obtaining a three wide position outside the leaders at the 700 metres. When questioned as to the tactics adopted on the gelding in particular as to why he made a mid race move from the rear of the field to take up a position outside the leaders, rider W H Lao explained it had been his intention to settle in a midfield position, however after losing ground at the start his mount was reluctant to stretch out when behind runners. For this reason after entering the back straight he shifted his mount wider on the track where it commenced to race truly and he then elected to go forward before then obtaining a position to the outside of the leaders near the 700 metres. He added that 10 Golden Commandment would be better suited on the turf surface. The Stewards noted his comments.
11 Hand By Hand (C F Chan) –Laid in in the straight.
12 Shadow Master (R Curatolo) –Was marginally slow to begin and then became unbalanced after making contact with 1 Florence Baby.
13 Cargo Money (Y M Choi) –Dwelt when the gates were released and lost ground.
