Race Report

RACE-4 THE HO MAN TIN (SAND) RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1050 METRES (305)

1 Harbour Star (Y M Choi) –Was marginally slow to begin and then became unbalanced when tightened between 10 Sparta and 2 Innoalloy which was taken in by 3 Brave Flying Hawk which shifted in.
2 Innoalloy (H Lam) –On jumping away was tightened for room between 1 Harbour Star and 3 Brave Flying Hawk which shifted in. Disappointing performance. Rider reported his mount was one paced throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Brave Flying Hawk (L Corrales) –Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with 2 Innoalloy.
4 Brave Rhino (R Curatolo) –Rider reported after the race that he had concerns with his mount’s action. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 25th June 2016.
5 Firedragon Cthulhu (W Smith) –Hung out commencing the turn at the 600 metres.
8 Vigormaster (C Perkins) – Suffered a bleeding attack. Trainer K H Leong was informed that the standard stand down period applies and before being permitted to race again a veterinary clearance must be produced and the horse must perform satisfactorily in a Barrier Trial.
9 Gem Eagle (A Aucharuz) –Jumped away awkwardly.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 1 Harbour Star pleaded guilty to a charge of carless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that approaching the 200 metres he permitted his mount to shift out whilst riding it along when insufficiently clear of 12 Woodney (K K Lai) which had to be checked. Jockey Choi had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of two racemeetings to cover the meetings of 2nd and 8th July 2016. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his very good careless riding record, the high degree of carelessness and the severity of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
