Race Report

RACE-4 THE PANYU (DIV 1) RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (311)

1 Lobor Treasure (K K Lai) – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
2 Impeccable Genius (H Lam) –Rider was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the poor performance today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Florence Elite (C Perkins) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 China Cheers (A Calder) –Disappointing performance. Rider reported that he believed that the gelding did not appreciate the firm going today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Turquoise Heart (L Corrales) - Checked near the 750 meters.
11 Iron Alloy (B Yamzon) –Jumped away awkwardly unbalancing its rider, then shifted out abruptly before being straightened and as a result lost ground.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey L Salles the rider of 4 Lucky Today was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that approaching the 800 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in, resulting in 5 Florence Elite being tightened for room and having to be checked. In laying the charge the Stewards acknowledged that preceding the incident Jockey Salles was obliged to steady his mount when the pace steadied in front of him. Jockey Salles had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of two racemeetings to cover the meetings of 8th and 9th July 2016. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his record under this rule, and they deemed the incident to be in the low range. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 10 Explosive Blast pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 750 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 5 Florence Elite which was tightened for room, lost its rightful running and had to be checked. Turquoise Heart which was following was also checked. Jockey Choi had his licence to ride in races suspended for five racemeetings, however the Stewards ruled that three of these meetings be served concurrently with the suspension in Race 1 and therefore his combined suspensions wil take effect from 9th of July, up to and including the meeting of the 30th of July 2016. He may resume riding on the 31st of July 2016. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his record under this rule, the high degree of carelessness and the severity of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal. He will also be referred to the Master of the Riding School, Mr. H Troy for remedial training.
