Race Report

RACE-2 THE EPSOM RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1200 METRES (315)

1 Modena Favorite (W Smith) –Raced three wide without cover throughout.
2 Turquoise Lucky (K H Yu) –Was hampered approaching the 900 metres.
3 There You'll Be (A Calder) – Rider was unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance today, however added that in his opinion the gelding would benefit from today’s racing experience. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Winner Fortune (A Aucharuz) –Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
6 Gold Selection (R Curatolo) –Bounded in the air when the gates were released and lost ground. Was hampered approaching the 900 metres. Disappointing performance. Rider explained that his mount never travelled comfortably and in his opinion was not suited to today’s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Great Tiger (L Corrales) –Steadied off heels near the 900 metres. Approaching the 200 metres was disappointed for a run between 2 Turquoise Lucky and 5 Winner Fortune before shifting back to the inside of 5 Winner Fortune to obtain clear running.
9 Maggie's Pride (W H Lao) – A post race veterinary examination revealed that the mare was severely lame in the left foreleg. Trainer K C Tse was informed that the mare will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced and she has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
10 Iron Alloy (H Lam) –Refused to jump when the gates were released and took no part in the event. Trainer K C Chong was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
11 I'm Sincere (C Perkins) –Proved difficult to load and after being boxed became restless dislodging its bridle. As the gelding continued to be restless proving difficult for the bridle to be replaced, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4:41pm. Trainers C Marshall/K C Wong were informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and would be required to perform satisfactorily in a Jump Out.
12 Happy Proposal (K K Lai) –Was hampered approaching the 900 metres.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards to review the patrol films of the start, to establish whether 10 Iron Alloy had been afforded a fair start. “Correct Weight” was declared as it was established that when the start was effected 10 Iron Alloy refused to jump.

Approaching the 900 metres 5 Winner Fortune was placed in restricted room to the inside of 8 Great Tiger which had to be steadied off the heels of 3 There You’ll Be which shifted in before being straightened by its rider. 2 Turquoise Lucky, 12 Happy Proposal and 6 Golden Selection were all hampered in consequence. Jockey A Calder the rider of 3 There You’ll Be was advised that he must be clear of runners when shifting ground in future.
