Race Report

RACE-1 THE VIGAN 2&3-YEAR-OLD (RATING 55-0) 1100 METRES (338)

2 Wealthy East (L Corrales) –Raced keenly through the early and middle stages. Performed below market expectations. Jockey L Corrales explained that his mount began very well, however when he attempted to restrain near the 800 metres 2 Wealthy East commenced to over race due to 1 Cheerful Fish racing close to his outside. For this reason he was unable to steady the pace as anticipated. He added that his mount shortened stride at the 300 metres, however did not feel amiss in its action and highlighted that the pace in the event may have been detrimental to the chances of 2 Wealthy East. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. A swab sample was taken from the gelding for analysis.
4 Winner Fortune (A Aucharuz) – Rider A Aucharuz was severely reprimanded for accidently dropping his whip near the 200 metres. In arriving at this decision, the Stewards took into that this was his first offence of this nature.
5 Hey Hey Companion (A Calder) –Was slightly slow into stride. Rider reported his mount raced greenly throughout and in his opinion would benefit from today’s racing experience.
6 Instantly Party (W Smith) –Bounded in the air when the gates were released and lost ground (1L). Got its head up and raced ungenerously in the back straight. Was then held up and unable to improve its position from the 600 metres and until after passing the 400 metres.
7 Rio Party (W H Lao) –Had a tendency to lay out under pressure in the straight.
