Race Report
RACE-3 THE REDCAR RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (376)

2 Leader All The Way (L Corrales) –Checked shortly after start. Raced very wide without cover throughout.
3 My Cup Of Tea (B Yamzon) – Checked shortly after the start. At the entrance into the straight had to be steadied inwards when disappointed for a run between 11 Golden Dragon and 8 Golden Kalbar. Poor performance. Rider reported that after being disappointed for a run at the top of the home straight, his mount failed to respond to his riding thereafter and in his opinion was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Strong Alloy (H Lam) –Performed below market expectations. Rider was at a loss to explain today’s poor performance, however reported his mount was a beaten horse at the 600 metres. A swab sample was taken from the gelding for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K C Chong was informed that he would be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 15th August 2016 and in addition, the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
5 Turquoise Heart (A Calder) –When questioned regarding his riding of 5 Turquoise Heart particularly from approaching the 400 metres, Jockey A Calder explained that he was following the favorite 4 Strong Alloy on the rail and anticipated gaining a run to the inside of that gelding on straightening, however the run did not eventuate and he was unable to shift out due to him being up inside the heels of 9 Only Pearl. He added that he then had to check his mount when unable to obtain a run inside of 4 Strong Alloy until approaching the 200 metres. He agreed with the Stewards that in hindsight he had erred and he should have endeavoured to come to the outside and get onto the back of 9 Only Pearl near the 400 metres which would then have afforded him the opportunity to shift wider on the track and obtain clear running earlier in the straight and his comments were noted. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Chinese Scholar (W Smith) –Raced wide without cover throughout.
11 Golden Dragon (R Curatolo) – Raced erratically for some distance in the back straight.
12 Mission Fame (K K Lai) –When questioned as to why he did not improve his position from the 600 metres to the inside of 8 Golden Kalbar, Jockey K K Lai explained that gelding was shifting ground in front of him and this reason he was reluctant to commit a run at that point. He added that at the top of the straight he elected to come wide on the track as his horse does not handle rain affected track conditions and he believed the going was superior out wide. He further added that he accidentally dropped his right rein inside the 100 metres and when attempting to pick up the rein his whip became entangle in it for a number of strides.
