Race Report

RACE-5 THE FAROL DA GUIA RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1100 METRES (5)

2 My Lucky Baby (B Yamzon) –Leaving the 600 metres raced wide without cover.
3 Wealthy East (L Corrales) –Near the 50 metres shifted out abruptly under pressure and had to be steadied by its rider. Performed below market expectations. Jockey L Corrales reported that after obtaining the lead his mount raced keenly through the early and middle stages. He added that when he placed the gelding under pressure at the top of the straight it responded well, however was a beaten horse from the 200 metres and in his opinion was disappointing. He further added that the rise in class of today’s race may have contributed to today’s disappointing performance. A swab sample was taken from 3 Wealthy East for analysis and a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Gauteng (W H Lao) –Poor performance. Rider reported that in his opinion his mount is better suited on the sand track. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Show Smart (W Smith) –Jumped awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer K S Cheong was informed that 8 Show Smart will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey A Aucharuz the rider of 9 The Mighty pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 12 Felizmaster (R Curatolo) which was checked and lost its position. Jockey A Aucharuz’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings covering the meetings of 7th and 15th of October 2016. In accessing penalty, the Stewards took into account the degree of the interference, Jockey A Aucharuz’s guilty plea and his good record. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
