Race Report

RACE-2 THE ROSE RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (14)

1 Golden Commandment (W H Lao) –Was slow into stride.
2 One From Many (W Smith) –Raced wide without cover throughout.
3 Windsor Arch Three (C Perkins) –Was tightened for room shortly after the start between 9 Moon Walker and 5 Turquoise Lucky which after jumping away awkwardly hung out despite the efforts of its rider. Leaving the 1300 metres was checked.
4 Treasure Smile (R Curatolo) –Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
5 Turquoise Lucky (L Salles) –Was resaddled behind the barriers. Jumped awkwardly and hung out for a short distance after the start. Raced wide without cover throughout.
6 Highspot (A Calder) –Dislodged rider on the way to the barriers who suffered a harmless fall. Subsequently underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to race. Raced wide until obtaining the lead position near the 900 metres.
8 General's Steed (L Corrales) –Acting on veterinary advice that it was lame in the left foreleg, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 2:34pm. Trainer S Chow was informed that 8 General's Steed will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
10 Victory Achiever (A Aucharuz) –Near the 400 metres was held up when unable to improve until entering the home straight. Approaching the 100 metres was accidently struck over the head by the whip of the rider of 2 One From Many. As a result of this 10 Victory Achiever attempted to savage 2 One From Many. Near the 50 metres was held up and unable to improve for a short distance.
12 Rivers Elite (K H Yu) –Raced wide rounding the home turn.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey R Curatolo, the rider of 4 Treasure Smile pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i), in that leaving the 1300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 3 Windsor Arch Three (C Perkins) which had to checked and lost its position. Jockey R Curatolo’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings to cover the meetings of 15th and 21st October 2016. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his good riding record, his guilty plea and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
