Race Report

RACE-4 THE LOTUS RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (16)

1 River Colour (M Cangas) – Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that his mount travelled well in the lead, however was one paced in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Galaxy Giant (Y M Choi) – A post race race veterinary examination revealed that it was lame in the right foreled. Trainer K M Chin was informed that 2 Galaxy Giant will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
6 China Spirit (A Aucharuz) –Rider reported he was obliged to stop riding over the concluding stages when 8 Lucky Today shifted in under pressure. In all the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action.
7 Happy Alloy (H Lam) – Near the 700 metres steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed close to the heels of 8 Lucky Today which shifted in when not quite clear. Jockey L Salles the rider of 8 Lucky Today was issued with a reprimanded and advised that he must be sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Approaching the 400 metres was forced wider on the track when 9 Leader All The Way shifted out to improve.
8 Lucky Today (L Salles) – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
10 Rider Navigator (K H Yu) –Was slow to begin. Rider reported that his mount had a tendency to hang out in the straight and as a result he was unable to test his mount fully to the line. Trainer K S Cheong was informed that a warning had been placed on 10 Rider Navigator for its racing manners.
11 Lucky And Strong (K K Lai) –Jumped awkwardly.
12 My Cup Of Tea (K W Leong)-Near the 400 metres was disappointed for a run between 10 Rider Navigator and 7 Happy Alloy, which both shifted ground. In all the circumstances the Stewards could not attribute the blame to anyone rider and no further action was taken, other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. Jockey K W Leong was issued a fine of HK$1000 for failing to weigh in. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his good record in regards to this infringement.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The “Enquiry Sign” was semaphored following the running of the race to allow the Stewards to review the official patrol film of the start to determine whether 4 Arabian Hawk (W H Lao) had been afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected 4 Arabian Hawk stood flat footed on its own accord and lost significant ground at the start. Under the circumstances, 4 Arabian Hawk was deemed a starter. Trainers K C Tse and C Marshall was informed that 4 Arabian Hawk will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
