Race Report

RACE-5 THE AUCKLAND RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1500 METRES (29)

1 Yang Jiang Star (L Corrales) –Jumped awkwardly.
4 Wonder Holy (C Perkins) –Over raced during the early and middle stages and was caught racing wide without cover until near the 800 metres.
5 Chromium Alloy (H Lam) –Jumped awkwardly. Raced three wide from the 500 metres. Rider reported that his mount was not suited by today’s quick tempo, however ran on fairly in the home straight. He added that 5 Chromium Alloy maybe better suited over further ground at this stage of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Wyoming (B Yamzon) –Was slow into stride.
10 River Treasure (K H Yu) – When questioned regarding his vigor from the 600 metres to the 400 metres, Jockey K H Yu explained that from the 600 metres to the 400 metres he urged his mount along, slapping it down the shoulder, however 10 River Treasure didn’t quicken as expected. He added that when his mount had balanced up in the home straight, it ran on fairly when placed under pressure. In all the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey K H Yu a severe reprimand for his lack of vigor in that from the 600 metres to the 400 metres he should have used far more vigor than he had displayed on this occasion and was further advised that should he ride in such a manner in future, further action maybe taken.
