RACE-1 THE ROTORUA RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1050 METRES (37)

As Jockey L Salles was overweight, the Stewards gave permission for Jockey W H Lao to ride 12 Cheerful Companion at 119lbs. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey L Salles was issued a fine of HK$2,000 under MJC Rule of Racing 122 (iii) in that he accepted a ride for which he was unable to make the weight.

1 River Best Diamond (K W Leong) – Prior to the race, Trainer S H Cheong informed the Stewards that he would instruct the rider to have the gelding in a more forward position should circumstances permit. Settled in a handy position. Near 150 metres hung in under pressure for a short distance.
3 Instantly Party (B Yamzon) –Raced wide without cover throughout.
4 Win Perfectly (K K Lai) –Near the 450 metres, when attempting to improve was disappointed for a run between 10 Beautiful Illusion and 3 Instantly Party and had to be steadied.
7 Glory Moment (K H Yu) –Poor performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was making respiratory noises. Trainer S Chow was informed that he would be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 29th October 2016 and in addition, it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed in an official Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
8 Zirconium Alloy (H Lam) –Was marginally slow to begin and shortly after the start was tightened for room between 2 Best Double and 11 Safe Gold Baby which shifted out.
