RACE-3 THE KOWLOON TONG RATING 70-40 (CLASS 2&3) 1600 METRES (57)

4 Speed Of King (R Curatolo) – Approaching the winning post on the first occasion when inclined to lay in, was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 6 One Belt One Road which shifted out slightly.
5 Horse Of The Day (W Smith) –A post race veterinary examination revealed that 5
Horse Of The Day had suffered a bleeding attack. Trainers K C Tse/C Marshall were informed
that the standard stand down period will apply and it will be subjected to a barrier trial and a
veterinary clearance must be produced before being permitted to race again.
6 One Belt One Road (W H Lao) – Race wide without cover throughout. The Stewards questioned Jockey W H Lao regarding the tactics adopted in particular the reasons for racing wide without cover throughout when there appeared to be an opportunity near the 1300 metres to obtain a position with cover behind 2 River Treasure. Jockey W H Lao explained he was instructed to have the gelding mid field and race three or four horses off the fence. He added that near the 1300 metres when caught racing wide without cover, he considered obtaining a position behind 2 River Treasure however was reluctant to take that position as in his opinion 6 One Belt One Road may not have raced well in the kick back. He further added he then allowed his mount to travel comfortably albeit wide without cover. After considering all the circumstances, the Stewards noted his explanation however, nevertheless reminded him of his obligations to ride all his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Gauteng (C F Chan) – Was resaddled behind the barrier.
