Race Report

RACE-1 THE JARDIM DA ESTRELA RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1200 METRES (61)

2 Borrett Boy (B Yamzon) –Near 800 metres shifted in on its own accord, struck the running rail and became unbalanced. A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was severely lame in the right foreleg. Trainer P Leyshan was informed that 2 Borrett Boy will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a official Barrier Trial and a veterinary clearance is produced.
3 Forever Buddies (K H Yu) –Leaving the 800 metres was steadied when inconvenienced.
4 Peace Get Lucky (C F Chan) –Leaving 800 metres was steadied. Rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight was held up when unable to improve.
5 Elo Seven (K K Lai) –Was slow to begin. Rider reported that his mount which was having its first start was inclined to race greenly throughout.
7 Destney (L Corrales) –Over raced in the early and middle stages and raced wide without cover throughout.
9 Modena Favorite (W Smith)- Leaving the 800 metres was steadied and hung out. Thereafter continued to hang out for the remainder of the race. Trainer K S Cheong was informed that a warning had been issued against 9 Modena Favorite for its racing manners.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the 800 metres where 4 Peace Get Lucky (C F Chan) had to be steadied. It was established that leaving the 800 metres 4 Peace Get Lucky which commenced to over race had to be steadied off the heels of 13 Golden Kalbar (W L Ho)
which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. In this incident 9 Modena Favorite (W Smith) which was following commenced to over race, was steadied and hung out taking 3 Forever Buddies (K H Yu) out onto the heels of 11 Only Pearl (K W Leong) and had to be steadied. After considering all the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey W L Ho the rider of 13 Golden Kalbar with a severe reprimanded and advised him of his obligations to be sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times.
