Race Report

RACE-6 THE GOOD FORTUNE RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (140)

1 Chinese Dream (A Calder) –Trainer P Leyshan informed the Stewards that he would instruct the rider to attempt to lead or obtain a position just behind the speed should circumstances permit. Was ridden off the speed. Near the 900 metres was severely checked and made contact with the running rail when tightened for room by 2 River Control which when over racing, hung in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. After considering all the circumstances, the Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider, however Mr. S H Cheong the trainer of 2 River Control was informed that a warning has been placed on gelding with regards to its racing manners. In this incident 12 So Happy which was following was hampered in consequence.
2 River Control (R Curatolo) –Over race in the middle stages and near the 900 metres hung in abruptly. Warning issued.
3 One Belt One Road (A Aucharuz) – Prior to the race Trainer K H Leong informed the Stewards that he would be instructing the rider to attempt to lead today if possible. Was ridden accordingly. Cast its left hind plate during the run. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 3 One Belt One Road, Trainer K H Leong attributed the improved performance due to the significant drop in class and that the gelding also benefitted by the move back to the turf and the good track conditions where the gelding has performed competitively previously. The Stewards noted his explanation.
5 Off The Bench (L Corrales) –Raced wide rounding the home turn.
8 Sacred Warrior (L Salles) –Rider reported that his mount travelled well throughout the race, however weakened in the home straight. He added that in his opinion, the gelding would benefit in fitness from today’s race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 One From Many (W Smith) –Jumped awkwardly. Rider reported that after jumping awkwardly his mount settled further back than anticipated. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Gem Fighter (K K Lai) –Near the 1200 metres was eased away from the heels of 6 Stallion Treasure which shifted in slightly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
12 So Happy (M Cangas) – Near the 900 was hampered.
