Race Report

RACE-6 MACAU GOLDEN GROUP FAT CHOY PLATE RATING 70-40 (CLASS 2&3) 1800 METRES (152)

2 Basement (L Corrales) –Buffeted for a short distance after the start between 13 Off The Bench and 8 Macau Moonlight which shifted out slightly. Raced wide without cover from the 500 metres.
3 King Creole (C Perkins) –Steadied passing the winning post on the first occasion.
4 Eclair Journey (A Calder) – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Rider reported that due to the slow tempo of the race in the middle stages his mount commenced to race fiercely and was reluctant to settle and as a result settled further forward than he had anticipated. He added that when the tempo of the race increased from the 600 metres his mount travelled well, however when placed under pressure in the home straight, the gelding was one paced and did not finish the race off as expected. A swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 The Precious Prime (R Curatolo) –Over raced in the middle stages. Near the 250 metres broke down in the right fore fetlock dislodging its rider. 5 The Precious Prime was subsequently euthanized on humane grounds.
6 Wyoming (L Salles) –Stood flat footed as the start was affected and lost considerable ground. Trainer P Leyshan was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
8 Macau Moonlight (R Maia) –Over raced in the early stages.
9 Northern Lightning (W L Ho) –Jumped awkwardly. Passing the winning post on the first occasion was steadied off the heels of 11 Master Kabiddi which shifted in and away from 4 Eclair Journey which was inclined to lay in. 3 King Creole which was following was steadied in consequence.
11 Master Kabiddi (M Cangas) –Raced three wide without cover from the 1100 metres.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The “Enquiry” sign was semaphored following the running of the race to afford the Stewards the opportunity to view the official patrol film of the start to establish whether 6 Wyoming had been afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected 6 Wyoming stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. The Stewards were satisfied that 6 Wyoming had been afforded a fair start and as such Correct Weight was declared.
