2 Off The Bench (L Corrales) –Raced wide rounding the home turn.
3 Road To Victory (C Perkins) –Jumped awkwardly.
4 Gauteng (K W Leong) –Jumped awkwardly.
6 Vigorous Momentum (B Yamzon) –Marginally slow to begin.
7 Turquoise Heart (A Calder) –Was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
9 Luen Yat Command (M Wepner) –Jumped awkwardly.
10 Crowning Mission (W Smith) –Near the 100 metres was accidently struck on the head by the whip of A Aucharuz, the rider of 8 Cali Fortune. Stewards questioned Jockey W Smith in regard to the tactics adopted, in particular the reason the gelding raced in a handy position which is in contrast to its recent racing pattern. Jockey W Smith explained he was issued the same instructions when he rode the gelding at its previous start which was to try to get a good jump and have the gelding traveling where it was comfortable. He added unlike at its previous start, 10 Crowning Mission jumped well tonight and after riding it for a short distance after the start, the gelding traveled strongly and as there was no early speed shown from many runners, he allowed 10 Crowning Mission to stride forward and obtain a handy position. The Stewards noted his explanations.
