Race Report

RACE-6 THE BOSTON RATING 70-40 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (164)

As Jockey M Cangas was suffering from a cold and had been stood down by the Club’s Medical Officer, the Stewards gave permission for Jockey K K Lai to be substituted as the rider of 9 Fortune Master.

1 Galaxy Giant (T Queally) –Was slow to begin. Rider reported that after being slow to begin his mount settled further back than anticipated and never travelled comfortably from that point on. He further added 1 Galaxy Giant performs better when able to race up on the speed. The Stewards noted his explanation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K M Chin was informed to present 1 Galaxy Giant to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 25th February 2017. Furthermore he was informed gelding which was beaten of 31 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
4 Valormaster (C F Chan) – Was slow to begin. Near the 800 metres was inclined to race fiercely, blundered and hung out.
9 Fortune Master (K K Lai) – Was slow to begin. Blundered near the 800 metres. Rider reported his mount was not comfortable in tonight’s track conditions.
10 Unbreakable (M Wepner) –Tightened for room shortly after the start between 8 Windsor Arch Five and 3 Master Of Cheers which shifted out and away from 5 Californiatreasure which was inclined to lay out. Was inclined to hang out from the 500 metres until entering the home straight. Rider was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the disappointing performance tonight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
