Race Report

RACE-1 THE SALVADOR RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1050 METRES (171)

1 Alway Better (A Calder) –Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer W T Lai was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial before racing again. Near the 250 metres was momentarily eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of 6 Explosive Blast which shifted in.
6 Explosive Blast (T Queally) –Approaching the 200 metres was bumped by 9 Win Perfectly which shifted in. Near the 100 metres was brushed by 9 Win Perfectly which shifted in and away from 2 Her Time.
8 Beautiful Illusion (L Corrales) –Raced wide without cover throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn.
9 Win Perfectly (K K Lai) –From the 500 metres was held up and unable to improve for a short distance.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The “Enquiry” sign was semaphored following the running of the race to afford the Stewards the opportunity to view the official patrol film of the start to establish whether 1 Alway Better (A Calder) had been afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected 1 Alway Better stood flat footed and lost significant ground. The Stewards were satisfied that 1 Alway Better had been afforded a fair start and as such Correct Weight was declared.
