Race Report

RACE-2 2017 MACAUSLOT CHARITY TROPHY RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1500 METRES (190)

3 Sharp Spear (W L Ho) – Near the 1300 metres was momentarily tightened for room and was steadied between 10 Stakemaster and 5 Big Success, both of which shifted ground. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider, no further action was taken.
4 Four Season Health (B Yamzon) –Raced wide without cover throughout.
5 Big Success (K H Yu) – Raced fiercely in the early stages and steadied near 1200 metres. A swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Shadow Master (M Wepner) –Near the 1200 metres had to be checked.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the reasons 12 Shadow Master had to be checked near the 1200 metres. Evidence was taken from Jockeys W Smith (Stakemaster), K H Yu (Big Success), M Wepner (Shadow Master) and C F Chan (Impeccable Genius). It was established that near the 1200 metres 12 Shadow Master was tightened for room and had to be checked off the heels of 10 Stakemaster which after initially receiving pressure from 5 Big Success improved inside of the heels of 2 Power Savabeel when the pace steadied and shifted in. A short distance later 5 Big Success, which was inclined to over race, was then momentarily tightened for room by 1 Impeccable Genius which shifted in when insufficiently clear.
After considering all of the evidence and the circumstances of the race, the Stewards took no further action other than to issue Jockey C F Chan the rider of 1 Impeccable Genius with a severe reprimand and was advised to ensure he is clear of other runners when shifting ground in future.
