Race Report

RACE-2 THE TAEJON RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1500 METRES (238)

2 Highspot (R Maia) –Steadied near the 150 metres.
3 Impeccable Choice (A Calder) –Near the 150 metres was crowded and steadied.
4 River Dream (K H Yu) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Laughing World (M Wepner) –On return to scale Jockey M Wepner requested to review the patrol film in the home straight with regard to lodging an objection against the winner of 9 Smart Ebony. After reviewing the film he elected not to proceed.
7 Gold On (C Perkins) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Smart Ebony (W L Ho) –Near the 700 metres turn 9 Smart Ebony was awkwardly placed on the heels of 4 River Dream, got its head up and had to be steadied.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Near the 150 metres 9 Smart Ebony (W L Ho) shifted in whilst being ridden along crowding 2 Highspot (R Maia) which had to be steadied. 9 Smart Ebony then continued shifted ground inwards which caused crowding to 6 Laughing World (M Wepner) which was taken in onto 3 Impeccable Choice (A Calder) resulting in both 3 Impeccable Choice and 6 Laughing World being crowded and lost ground.

Jockey W L Ho the rider of 9 Smart Ebony pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that he made insufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of 2 Highspot, 6 Laughing World and 3 Impeccable Choice all which were crowded and lost ground. Jockey W L Ho’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings and the Stewards on this occasion deferred this to take effect for the meetings of 26th May and 2nd June 2017. In determining to defer the suspension, the Stewards took into account the current number of riders. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards also took into account his guilty plea, his record and the circumstances of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
