Race Report

RACE-2 THE KYOTO RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1050 METRES (244)

In this event, the Stewards gave permission for Apprentice S Meneanen the rider of 10 Military Star to claim only 3lbs of his allowance. Apprentice S Meneanen was issued a reprimand and was informed that he will not be permitted to accept rides under 125lbs until such time that he is able to better manage his weight.

7 Special Steel (H Lam) –Performed below market expectations. Stewards questioned Jockey H Lam in relation to the apparent disappointing performance of 7 Special Steel. Jockey H Lam said that his mount was disappointing tonight. He added that 7 Special Steel never travelled comfortably in the race and was under pressure a long way from the winning post and failed to run on. When questioned Trainer C F Chan stated that he was disappointed with gelding’s performance tonight and added that it has lost 13lbs body weight from its previous start but could offer no other reason for tonight’s performance. He added that it is his intention to freshen the gelding up after tonight’s run. A swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Superlative Choice (L Salles) –Was slow into stride.
10 Military Star (Apprentice S Meneanen) – Shortly after the start the saddle slipped the right side unbalancing the rider, 10 Military Star then threw its head up and lost ground. Approximately 150 metres after the start was pulled up by its rider and took no further part in the race.
