Race Report

RACE-1 THE WHAKATANE RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1500 METRES (339)

Race 1 was rescheduled to start at 3:50pm due to adverse weather condition.

1 Ho Sai Lei (E Trujillo)- At the 50 metres rolled out under pressure. Jockey E Trujillo was warned and told to straight his mounts when they shift ground in the future.
2 Lucky And Powerful (R Curatolo) - Shortly after the start bumped 10 Simple Mind. At the 1300 metres shifted out and 3 Lucky Station had to be steadied. Jockey R Curatolo was reprimanded for shifting ground and was told to use more care in the similar circumstances in future. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Lucky Station (M Wepner) - At the 1300 metres steadied when 10 Simple Mind shifted out. At the 50 metres shifted in to obtain a clear run.
4 St Vaduz (A Calder) - 50 metres after the start rolled in and bumped 10 Simple Mind. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Easy Thai (L Corrales) - Poor performance. Stewards questioned both trainer and jockey. Jockey L Corrales reported that his mount jumped well and travel well in the middle stage of the race, In the straight when placed under pressure 5 Easy Thai was one paced and failed to respond. In his opinion 5 Easy Thai was very disappointing. Trainer K S Wong said that the horse had work well and done well in the stable and was expecting a good performance today and he could offer no reason for today’s performance. Stewards noted the explanation and advise trainer Mr. K S Wong that if he find anything that may affect today’s performance he need to inform the Stewards later through the week. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 River God Choi (M Cangas) - Slow to muster speed.
7 Wonderful Power (H Lam) - A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding cast its left fore plate during the run.
8 Meaning Strong (Apprentice K Leung) - At the 500 metres had to be steadied off 9 Fortune Smiles which shifted out.
9 Fortune Smiles (A Aucharuz) - At the 500 meters shifted out caused 8 Meaning Strong to be steadied. Jockey A Aucharuz was reprimanded to use more care when shifting ground in the future.
10 Simple Mind (R Maia) -Was bumped by 2 Lucky And Powerful shortly after the start.
