Race Report

RACE-2 THE HOLLYWOOD PARK RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (346)

1 Master Of Cheers (L Corrales) - At the 300 metres 6 Pearl Green clipped its heels. The Stewards severely reprimanded Jockey R Maia the rider of 6 Pearl Green for allowing his mount to clip the heels of 1 Master Of Cheers which was racing in front and he was informed that he would be expected to make a great effort to hold his mounts back and away from heels under similar circumstances in future. A swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Winner Fortune (A Aucharuz) -At the 100 metres shifted out under pressure resulting in 5 Spring Thunder shying away and brushing 4 Double Heaven.
4 Double Heaven (M Wepner) -Rider reported that just prior to the start being effected, his mount turned its head and was then slow to begin. At the 100 metres was brushed by 5 Spring Thunder.
5 Spring Thunder (C F Chan) -At the1200 metres got its head up and over raced. At the 100 metres shied out away from 3 and doing so brushed 4 Double Heaven.
6 Pearl Green (R Maia) -Approximately the 1150 metres rolled in resulting in 8 Machmaster having to be steadied. At the 300 metres, clipped the heels of 1 Master Of Cheers which was racing in front and blundered resulting in Jockey R Maia becoming unbalanced and lost the use of his stirrup irons.
8 Machmaster (H Lam) -Approximately the 1150 metres steadied off the heels of 6 Pearl Green when that gelding rolled in.
10 Kelson (W Smith) -Raced wide rounding the 1300 metres turn. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Jockey W Smith when questioned regarding the performance of 10 Kelson explained that his mount had jump well. It then raced wide in the early stages from barrier 13 but traveled well and obtained a position closer to the rail until approaching the home turn. However in the home straight fail to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Trainer C F Chan explained that he believed that the gelding may not have been suited by the firm track today and the fast pace, which was 4 seconds faster than at its last winning start and may have been disadvantaged by the wide barrier draw. He added that it was also up in grade today. The Steward noted their explanations.
13 Turquoise Heart (W L Ho) - At approximately the 300 metres steadied outwards to avoid the heels of tiring 10 Kelson.
