Race Report

RACE-3 THE DEL MAR RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1200 METRES (347)

3 Diva Achiever (A Aucharuz) -At the 100 metres was taken outwards by 11 Mr Singh crowding 8 Cheerful Fish.
4 Lucky And Wealthy (W L Ho) -Was slow into stride. Hung out rounding the 700 metre turn.
7 Yang Jiang Star (M Cangas) - Was slow into stride.
8 Cheerful Fish (Apprentice K Leung) -At the 100 metres had to be checked and lost ground when crowded by 3 Diva Achiever which was taken out by 11 Mr Singh. Stewards inquiry.
11 Mr Singh (R Maia) -At the 100 metres shifted out taking 3 Diva Achiever outwards causing crowding to 8 Cheerful Fish which had to be checked and lost ground.
13 Snowball (K K Lai) -Jumped awkwardly with its head up and was then slow into stride. The Stewards questioned Jockey K K Lai into his efforts to secure a clean start. Jockey K K Lai explained that his mount jumped awkwardly throwing its head and he became unbalanced falling back into the saddle. The Stewards informed Jockey K K Lai that they would expect a rider of his caliber to demonstrate better skills than he did today on leaving the barriers.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident at the 100 metres where 8 Cheerful Fish (Apprentice K Leung) had to be checked and lost ground. Jockey R Maia the rider of 11 Mr Singh pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that at the 100 metres he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 3 Diva Achiever (A Aucharuz) which in turn was taken wider on the track crowding 8 Cheerful Fish which then had to be checked and lost ground. Jockey R Maia’s licence to ride in races was suspended for period of 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of 20th August 2017. In arriving at this decision, the Stewards took into account his good record and the degree of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
