Race Report

RACE-1 THE HARTFORD RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1510 METRES (53)

1 Charity Group (L Corrales) -Jumped awkwardly outwards. The Stewards questioned Jockey L Corrales regarding the tactics employed on 1 Charity Group tonight. Jockey L Corrales stated that his mount does not like racing between runners and resents kickback. He said it normally likes to race on the outside of the field whenever possible. The Stewards noted his explanation but were critical of the amount of ground he covered on this occasion as they believed he could have still ridden within the guidelines of his instructions and saved ground. Jockey L Corrales was warned and reminded that he would be expected not to cover unnecessary ground whenever possible in future.
2 Highspot (A Calder) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Valiant Fella (A Aucharuz) -Jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped 5 Vigorous Momentum.
5 Vigorous Momentum (W Smith) -Was slow into stride and then bumped by 4 Valiant Fella. Performed below market expectations. A swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Jockey W Smith said he was bumped at the start but after that had a good run, however when placed under pressure failed to respond and was disappointing. He was unable to offer any real explanation for tonight’s performance. Trainer K H Leong was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the performance of 5 Vigorous Momentum tonight. He was informed that he would be required to present 5 Vigorous Momentum to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 18 November 2017. In addition 5 Vigorous Momentum will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed competitively in an official Barrier Trial.
7 Dynamaster (Apprentice K Leung) -Was slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainers C F Chan/K Seo were informed that he would be required to present 7 Dynamaster which performed poorly to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 18 November 2017.
12 Fantastic Destiny (M Wepner) -Rounding the home turn was disappointed for a run between 11 Shadow Master and 10 Fortune Smiles.
