Race Report

RACE-1 THE WIGAN RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1200 METRES (110)
1 Beautiful Illusion (Y M Choi) -Jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped 9 Fortune Smiles. Shortly after the start was bumped outwards onto 9 Fortune Smiles again when 6 Infinite Treasure shifted out. At the 150 metres shifted out under pressure.
5 Highspot (M Nunes) -At the start was bumped by 10 Auspicious Dragon and shortly after shifted out and bumped 8 Concentration. Was checked at the 1000 metres when racing on the inside of 7 Wealthy Treasure which shifted in. A swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Infinite Treasure (C F Chan) - Shortly after the start shifted out and bumped 1 Beautiful Illusion onto 9 Fortune Smiles.
7 Wealthy Treasure (M Belli) -Near the 1100 metres shifted in resulting in 8 Concentration having to check. At the 1000 metres shifted in with 5 Highspot having to check. Near the 200 metres brushed with 10 Auspicious Dragon on a few occasions.
8 Concentration (M Wepner) - Shortly after the start was bumped by 5 Highspot. Checked near the 1100 metres when racing inside 7 Wealthy Treasure which shifted in.
9 Fortune Smiles (B Yamzon) -At the start was bumped by 1 Beautiful Illusion which had jumped awkwardly outwards and shortly after was again bumped by 1 Beautiful Illusion which was bumped outwards by 6 Infinite Treasure.
10 Auspicious Dragon (K K Lai) -At the start bumped 5 Highspot and near the 200 metres brushed with 7 Wealthy Treasure on a few occasions.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the reason 8 Concentration (M Wepner) checked at the 1100 metres. Jockey M Belli the rider of 7 Wealthy Treasure pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) for careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 8 Concentration which was checked. The Stewards also inquired into the reason 5 Highspot (M Nunes) checked at the 1000 metres. Jockey M Belli the rider of 7 Wealthy Treasure pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) for careless riding in that at the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 5 Highspot which was checked. The Stewards issued Jockey M Belli with a fine of HK$5,000 in lieu of a one racemeeting suspension. In arriving at this decision, the Stewards took into account Jockey M Belli’s guilty plea on both occasions, his record, the severity of the interference and the mitigating factors.
