Race Report

RACE-3 THE FANLING (DIV 2) RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1350 METRES (124)

1 Mr Singh (W Smith) - Jumped awkwardly and shifted out and bumped with 8 Delighted Solution. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of 1 Mr Singh tonight, jockey W Smith said he travelled well until the 600 metres where the horse began to lose ground, in spite of his urgings. Trainer J Lau could offer no real explanation and was very disappointed with its performance tonight. He was informed that 1 Mr Singh will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial and that he will be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 10 February 2018.
2 Spring Thunder (K H Yu) - Performed below market expectation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K C Tse/W T Lai were informed that 2 Spring Thunder will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial and that he will be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 10 February 2018.
6 Niubi Emperor (M Nunes) - Resaddled at the barrier.
8 Delighted Solution (A Calder) - Jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped 1 Mr Singh.
9 Grateful Favors (R Maia) - Was slow to begin. When Stewards questioned Jockey R Maia regarding his riding over the final 200 metres he said that 9 Grateful Favors was starting to tire and he put the whip away and try to coax the horse under hands and heels riding. Stewards noted his explanation.
