1 Wealthy East (M Belli) - At the 300 metres rolled in under pressure and 8 Tuhao Power was momentarily held up. At the 80 metres shifted in when struck with the whip, 12 Heartgoodallwell was crowded and steadied
3 Capital Protector (K H Yu) - Checked at the start when severely crowded by 4 Chromium Alloy, 8 Tuhao Power, 11 Valiant Soldier and 12 Heartgoodallwell. And at the 900 metres was taken wider on the track by 7 Ready Fire which was checked and shifted out.
4 Chromium Alloy (H Lam) - Jumped awkwardly and severely crowded by 3 Capital Protector, 8 Tuhao Power, 11 Valiant Soldier and 12 Heartgoodallwell which made 3 Capital Protector had to be checked.
7 Ready Fire (M Nunes) - Was slow to muster speed. At the 900 metres had to check of 9 Royal Garden and shifted out abruptly and took 3 Capital Protector wide in turn made 10 Lucky Today had to be check while following 3 Capital Protector.
8 Tuhao Power (R Maia) - Jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly and caused severely crowding with 3 Capital Protector, 4 Chromium Alloy, 11 Valiant Soldier and 12 Heartgoodallwell which made 3 Capital Protector had to be checked. At the 300 metres was momentarily held up when 1 Wealthy East rolled in under pressure. Trainer K H Leong was informed that a warning has been placed on 8 Tuhao Power for its racing manner.
9 Royal Garden (A Aucharuz) - At the 900 metres shifted in.
10 Lucky Today (M Wepner) - At the 900 metres had to check of 3 Capital Protector when 7 Ready Fire shifted out abruptly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Valiant Soldier (O Chavez) - Severely crowding with 3 Capital Protector, 4 Chromium Alloy, 8 Tuhao Power and 12 Heartgoodallwell at the start.
12 Heartgoodallwell (B Yamzon) - Severely crowding with 3 Capital Protector, 4 Chromium Alloy, 8 Tuhao Power and 11 Valiant Soldier at the start. Was crowded and steadied at the 80 metres.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey A Aucharuz pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the MJC Rule 132(i) for careless riding in that at the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 7 Ready Fire which was checked and shifted out taking 3 Capital Protector wider on the track causing 10 Lucky Today to check and loose ground. Jockey A Aucharuz’s licence to ride in races was suspended for period of 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of 24th February 2018 and in addiction was fined the sum of HK$7,000. In arriving at the penalty the Stewards took into account his record, his guilty plea and the degree of the interference. He was informed of his Right of Appeal.
