Race Report

RACE-4 THE DUNEDIN RATING 70+ (CLASS 1&2) 1200 METRES (259)
2 River Bobo (F Henrique) - Shortly after the start was bumped by 13 Golden Thumb and then threw its head up when crowed.
3 Mister Kaopu (L Corrales) -Jumped awkwardly, then shifted out and bumped 13 Golden Thumb which in turn bumped 2 River Bobo which threw its head up when crowded.
4 Krystrump (W L Ho) -At the 280 metres shifted out to obtain a clear run and bumped with 12 Californiatreasure which had simultaneously shifted in. 4 Krystrump was steadied in this incident.
5 Best Of Luck (B Yamzon) -Was slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K S Wong was informed that he will be required to present 5 Best Of Luck to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 7th July 2018
7 China Paradise (R Maia) -At the 700 metres was severely crowded and was checked. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Yang Jiang Hero (Apprentice C L Cheung) -At the 200 metres rolled out and took 12 Californiatreasure out, bumping 11 Felizmaster.
10 Fasuba (S Nakano) -At the 700 metre turn shifted in severely crowding 7 China Paradise which checked. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Felizmaster (H Lam) - At the 200 metres was bumped by 12 Californiatreasure.
12 Californiatreasure (K K Lai) -At the 280 metres shifted in and bumped with 4 Krystrump and became unbalanced and blundered. At the 200 metres was taken out by 8 Yang Jiang Hero and in turn bumped 11 Felizmaster.
13 Golden Thumb (Apprentice K Leung) -Jumped awkwardly and shortly after was bumped by 3 Mister Kaopu and in turn crowded 2 River Bobo.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the reason 7 China Paradise (R Maia) was severely crowded and checked at the 700 metre turn. Jockey S Nakano pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that he allowed his mount 10 Fasuba to shift in when insufficiently clear of 7 China Paradise resulting in that horse being severely crowded and checked losing ground. Jockey S Nakano’s license to riding in races was suspended for a period of 1 racemeeting being the meeting of Saturday, 21 July 2018. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
