Race Report

RACE-2 THE TOURBILLION RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1050 METRES (8)

3 Silent Height (R Maia) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. When questioned regarding the performance of 3 Silent Height, Jockey R Maia was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance other than that the gelding traveled well early, however compounded when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer S Chow was informed that due to the unsatisfactory performance of 3 Silent Height, he would be required to present the gelding for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 29th September 2018 and in addition it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
4 Tak Fai Of Pins (L Corrales) - Near the 250 metres was checked. Rider reported that his mount settled further back than he had anticipated and as such attempted to save ground rounding the home turn. He added that after receiving interference near the 250 metres his mount was reluctant to stride out and was then one paced to the finish line.
7 Snowball (K H Yu) -Proved difficult to load. Leaving the 600 metres and until rounding the home turn hung out and made the turn extremely wide. Trainer M C Tam was informed that a warning had been placed on the gelding for both its barrier and racing manners.
8 Galaxy Giant (Apprentice C L Cheung) –Near the 900 metres brushed by 2 Baby Horse. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer K M Chin was informed that 8 Galaxy Giant will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary certificate is produce.
9 Not A Single Help (M Wepner) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 Darling Ten (K Leung) -Was slow to begin. Near the 250 metres was checked.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 250 metres whereby 4 Tak Fai Of Pins (L Corrales) and 10 Darling Ten (K Leung) were checked. Evidence was taken from Jockeys O Chavez (5 Valiant Soldier), R Maia (3 Silent Height), L Corrales (4 Tak Fai Of Pins) and K Leung (10 Darling Ten). Jockey O Chavez the rider of 5 Valiant Soldier pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 250 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 4 Tak Fai Of Pins which was checked and taken in onto 10 Darling Ten which was also checked. Jockey O Chavez’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 1 racemeeting being the meeting of Friday, 12 October 2018. He was informed of his Right of Appeal.
