Race Report

RACE-4 THE SOUTH AUSTRALIA RATING 95-70 (CLASS 1&2) 1510 METRES (10)

1 Advance Mission (K H Yu) -Was slow to begin. Raced wide without cover throughout.
2 Gem Eagle (H Lam) -Near the 700 metres was inclined to lay in and brushed 3 Unselfish Trust. Raced wide without cover until leaving the 600 metres.
3 Unselfish Trust (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Near the 700 metres was brushed by 2 Gem Eagle which was inclined to lay in.
6 Oriental Profit (R Maia) -Near the 600 metres had to be eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of 12 Capital Protector which began to yield ground. Leaving the 500 metres was held up and unable to improve when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Unselfish Trust and was unable to establish clear running until entering the home straight. Rider reported he had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 600 metres due to runners in front of him tiring, however when able to obtain clear running in the home straight his mount ran on well.

9 Ashkari (L Corrales) –Fractious in the barriers, delaying the start slightly. Was then slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 Beautiful Spring (O Chavez) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Grand Double Win (S Nakano) -Was slow into stride. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Near the 100 metres was eased momentarily off the heels of 8 Same Beauty which shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider. Jockey C F Chan the rider of 8 Same Beauty was reminded of his obligations to keep his mounts on a straight course when ever possible.
12 Capital Protector (K K Lai) -Near the 600 metres began to yield ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that due to the unsatisfactory performance of 12 Capital Protector, it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
