Race Report

RACE-4 THE SWAN HILL RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1350 METRES (22)

1 Duke Da Vega (K H Yu) -Bumped with 8 Yings Fans on jumping away. Near the 1300 metres was eased when crowded for room between 8 Yings Fans and 2 Altered both of which shifted ground slightly. On entering the home straight was bumped by 5 Master Starkiller on a number of occasions.
3 Bobo So Good (R Maia) -Was inclined to shift in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide without cover throughout.
4 God Get People (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Was slow into stride. Apprentice C L Cheung was reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts out fully to the finish line and with sufficient vigor whenever possible.
5 Master Starkiller (W L Ho) -On entering the home straight was inclined to lay in under pressure and bumped 1 Duke Da Vega on a number of occasions. The Stewards questioned Jockey W L Ho regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding in tonight’s race, in particular the reason 5 Master Starkiller raced up on the speed which was in contrast to the gelding’s recent racing pattern. Jockey W L Ho stated he was given no specific instructions from Trainer W H Tse other than to get a good jump. He added he was hoping to obtain a position with cover in the early stages however after beginning well and due to the lack of speed from other runners to his inside, he allowed the gelding to stride forward and travel where it was comfortable. The Stewards noted his explanation.
7 Grexit (L Corrales) -Hung out rounding the first turn. Near the 900 metres was brushed by 1 Duke Da Vega on a number of occasions which improved inside the heels of 5 Master Starkiller when the pace of the race slowed.
8 Yings Fans (H Lam) -Bumped by 1 Duke Da Vega on jumping away. Rider reported rounding the first turn his saddle slipped forward and as a result he had difficulty settling his mount. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
