Race Report

RACE-4 THE CAMBRIDGE RATING 70+ (CLASS 1&2) 1500 METRES (40)

3 Krystrump (W Smith) -Raced wide without cover leaving the 500 metres. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
4 Pearl Green (O Chavez) -Raced wide without cover until near the 650 metres. When questioned Jockey O Chavez stated racing down the back straight near the 1000 metres he considered attempting to obtain a position with cover behind 3 Krystrump, however as his mount is a big horse with a long stride, he was of the opinion that is was more beneficial to have his mount travelling where it is comfortable. He added leaving the 700 metres he was able to obtain a trail into the race on the back of 3 Krystrump and his mount finished the race off strongly. The Stewards noted his explanation.
6 Golden Double (S Nakano) -Jumped awkwardly. Leaving the 200 metres until near the 100 metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between 2 Lucky Winston and 7 River Control.
9 Sacred Man (K H Yu) -Near the 1250 metres was eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of 7 River Control. Near the 400 metres improved into a narrow run to the inside the 7 River Control and had to be steadied momentarily. Near the 250 metres lost the use of his right rein until near the 150 metres. As a result 9 Sacred Man shifted out abruptly and had to be corrected by its rider. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Inquiry sign was activated to allow the Stewards to view the official patrol footage over the concluding stage to ascertain if 4 Pearl Green, which had finished second, had grounds for an objection against 3 Krystrump being declared the winner. Jockey O Chavez the rider of 4 Pearl Green also made application to the Stewards to view the patrol footage. After viewing the available footage, Jockey O Chavez decided not to proceed with an objection and the Stewards declared correct weight.
