Race Report

RACE-2 SJM Presents:MJC 30th ANNIVERSARY CUP RATING 70+ (CLASS 1&2) 1500 METRES (170)

1 Luen On Dance Kid (O Chavez) -Was resaddled behind the barriers.
3 River Control (R Maia) -Near the 500 metres brushed with 8 Brilliant Debbie when shifting out to improve. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Lover Paradise (M Chadwick) -Leaving the 900 metres had to be eased away from the heels of 4 Sacred Capital which shifted in. Jockey W L Ho was issued with a severe reprimand for permitting his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear. Near the 700 metres raced fiercely and had to be steadied when it improved into a narrow run to the inside of 4 Sacred Capital, which after shifting out slightly, shifted back in. After considering all of the circumstances the Stewards took no further action other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
8 Brilliant Debbie (S de Sousa) -Cast its right fore plate during the run. Near the 500 metres was brushed by 3 River Control which shifted out to improve.
9 Eclair Lightning (S Nakano) -Was marginally slow to begin. Near the 1250 metres was checked when tightened for room by 7 Golden Fans which was taken in by 1 Luen On Dance Kid, which was in turn taken in by 10 Fortune Generation.
10 Fortune Generation (F Henrique) -Raced wide without cover throughout. Near 300 metres had to be eased when bumped by 2 Rose Gold Alloy which was taken out by 6 Golden Double which shifted out under pressure. After considering all of the circumstances the Stewards reported the incident however advised Jockey K Leung the rider of 6 Golden Double to exercise more care and to prevent his mounts from shifting ground when under pressure. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1250 metres where 9 Eclair Lightning had to be checked. Evidence was taken from Jockey S Nanako the rider of 9 Eclair Lightning, O Chavez the rider of 1 Luen On Dance Kid, W Smith the rider of 7 Golden Fans and F Henrique the rider of 10 Fortune Generation. Jockey F Henrique was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 1250 metres he permitted his mount 10 Fortune Generation to shift in when insufficiently clear of 1 Luen On Dance Kid which in turn shifted in taking 7 Golden Fans in onto 9 Eclair Lightning which had to be checked. Jockey F Henrique’s license to ride in races was suspended for 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Friday, 15 March 2019. The Stewards however acceded to a request from Jockey F Henrique for a monetary penalty in lieu of the 1 racemeeting suspension and issued a fine of HKD8,000 in lieu of the racemeeting of Friday, 15 March 2019. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his riding record and the degree of carelessness. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
